SOTCFB2 - Scrapbook February

Hi there,

I took a little break from posting last week because of a nasty cold - I just wasn't in the mood to write a lot in english ;-)

Today I'm back with a scrapbookpage - yes, a scrapbook! I do scrapbooking but I'm not a very creative scrapbooker. So I haven't post a layout here before ... I take the splurge today and show you what I made yesterday. I manage to get 5 (!!!) layout finished - all in different sizes because I'm still not sure which size works best for me.

And I had an "enabler". On SCS we have these little community (you may have heard me talking about all this wonderful ladies earlier) called "the sisterhood of the travelling card - SOTC. We do not just swap cards with each other but lately we decided to make 1-2 layout a month with a christian theme the hostess brings up (the layout is not supposed to have a religious background but it is welcome.). This month's hostess is my friend Judy and she has a wonderful theme:

And she asked us to us a tree and the color pink on the page. And here is my take:

Free digis

Hi there,

sorry, no post this morning!! I was so busy with all the cardmaking for the CHA relay at TGF - just for getting some free digis ;-) - and for the monthly challenges at Verve stamps - just for the chance of winning all new release sets for free!!!!!.

Here are my additional cards I made for the contest at The Greeting Farm. With every card you make with the provided digital image you are eligibale for another free digi when you upload your card until 6 pm cst the next day.

The first one is for today and the second one is from yesterday. I'll be back with the deets for the cards but for the moments I will head to my pillow ....

Ride your bike

Good morning!

I wanted to play with the color dare challenge but I had a really hard time coming up with something that matches their colors ... brocade blue, old olive, chocolate chip and pumpkin pie.

So I pulled out this cutie Edwin and colored him with my watercolor pencils to match the challenge.

What do you think?

I had this piece of scrap laying on my desk and was thrilled that it matches so perfectly - I just have no clue where it is from ....

Everything else is self-explaining and from SU.

I have to hurry - boys are getting busy ;-)

Well, this is my take for today. When I saw Ian as a mermaid I was bummed. So not matching. But while I was coloring I really got to know him better ;-) and fell in love. And I couldn't help and had to add the sentiment from Verve's "Beautiful You" set ;-), kwim?

I combined Ian with the sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch - I wanted to play with them for soooo long and finally got to manage it, yeah!

sommer-y birthday

Hi there,

Like I said the other day -> I have to stock up on birthday cards and due to the upcoming move I won't be able to make all this cards for a couple weeks ... :-( So I give my very best to be prepared.

This card is created with my friend Arielle's color challenge in mind. I love the airy colors and the two ladies sitting in a small cafè somewhere in the south of France .... okay okay, I have to stop this old memories flooding my mind :-) Here is the card:

I did a lot of paper piecing. And seeing this card on a picture I figured that I have to work on my shading skills. Well, nobody is perfect, right?

Buttons, buttons

Hi there,

I can't help but lately I seem to use buttons on nearly every card I make :-))

Todays card is no exception!!! I try to find a good way to use my new "Everyday button bits" set from PapertreyInk and for this card I combined it with the challenge from Stamping Royalty: make a single layer card.

WOW - that is always a challenge because I'm pretty focused on layering. Does anyone else have the same "problem"? ;-)

So I cut out a window with my label (???) nesties and used the inside of the card . A polka dot background stamped in pumpkin pie on the front and a scarlett jewel grosgrain ribbon from PTI, some pearl stickers and "feathers for the birds and my project was ready - easy-peasy, right?

Birthday Cupcake

Hi there,

are you enjoying your weekend so far?

I have two cards to show you today. I wanted to make a card for Taylor's challenge but totally forgot to post it. But they went to CHA in Anaheim so there is still time for me ;-). And because i loved her sketch I made two cards with the same images but different paper - to stock up on birthday card. I'm always in desperate need of birthday cards ....

The first one is made with the Key Ingredients set that I found on my door on Tuesday (did I already mentioned that I absolutly LOVE the KI from Taylored Expression? ;-)) and the second is made with the Cottage Wall DP from SU - can't get enough from it!!!!

Did you see the button on top of the second cupcake and the ribbon? It is from PapertreyInk - scarlett jewel and boy, it is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!

Stamps are from Hero Art, buttons from PTI and from my stasha and I colored the cupcakes with my watercolor pencils. Plus I added some dazzlng Diamond glitter to the cupcake - love the sparkle!

Good morning!!!!

Have you heard that Dustin Pikes now designs for High Hope stamps? Well, when I first heard that news I thought " Who the heck is Dustin Pikes?" Went and checked it out and my jar dropped down. I figured out that this is the artist I bought a couple of digis from way back last year and haven't used them yet because they were nearly forgotten ....

Last night I went ahead and with a lot of trial and error I managed to print my first resized digi image and colored it - I'm not pleased with my coloring this time but I just had to show you this cutie pie! And with this card I have a take for 3 (!!!!) challenges: KLStampinnScrappin (use a dragon), CCEE (sketch) and the way to use it challenge at SCS (cut out image and sentiment).

Bermuda CAS

Hi there,

when I saw the CAS challenge for this week at SCS I just had to play. A teal color, white and an additional color -> all together on a card. And since I discovered my love for bermuda bay lately I whipped up this two cards. Simple but I like the turn out ....

The stamps set I used is "Butterfly Wishes" from The Greeting Farm. The butterfly punch is Martha Stewart, the rhinestone and pearl stickers are from Michael's. I added rich razzleberry ribbon and on the second card a white border punch with the new SU border punch (sorry, forgot the name for it!!)

That should be all for today. I'm in the middle of some major drawer cleaning ... blehhhh! ;-)

"back to basics"

Hi there,

this will be a pretty long post..... sorry for that! So sit back, sip a cup of coffee/ tea and enjoy it ;-)

I made some cards for a couple of challenges and wanted to schedule the posts (LOVE that possibility) but.... well, I could say life came in the way! I just was too lazy. We had a wonderful and calm weekend and enjoyed ourselves so much that we have been so lazy with "work". But I think this is wonderful to do if it is just once in a while, right?

So I have to show you all the cards I made for the challenges today because they are all due tomorrow :-))

The first one is for ColorDare #51: use the colors garden green, barely banana and melon mambo. Wow, that was hard for me. So I remembered the first time stamping and went with an easy and clean layout. I addeds some Dazzling Diamond to the background but it is hard to see on the photo .... Stamp is from PTI "Everyday button bits" and everything else from my stash.

The next card is for the Colorthrowdown #75. Another difficult color combo for me: garden green, rich razzleberry and mellow moss. Phew! I'm not too happy with this card but at least I gave it a try, right? I used the SU set Great Friend and a Martha Stewart butterfly punch. Like I said: kind of back to basics, huh?

Okay, I think I have a new favorite stamp set!!!! Boy, when I bought my first PTI stamp set a couple weeks ago I loved all the samples I saw on blogs and on SCS but couldn't find my way to use it. But when my friend Arielle told me about this color combo from Stampin' Royalty I knew exactly what I wanted to do. And I LOVE the result - may I say that about my own card? I have to admit that I was inspired by countless cards I saw on countless blogs that were made in the same way - so this is not my own idea :-( I wish I would be that creative ....

But anyhow ... I pulled out Damask Design from PTI designed by my idol Dawn McVey and went to work. I really like the colors together and how you can make your own designer paper ;) Kind of back to the basics in another way ...

Ribbon is from SU and rhinestone stickers are from Michael's.

And while I was stamping I thought of making an elegant card with the same set in black and white. Throw in some gray and you have met the challenge from Diva Coffeebreak #160. The border punch is from Martha Stewart. I added stickles to the middle of of each elemt but it is hard to see on the photo - sorry!

Here are both of my "treasures" together. I think at least one of them will be on the way to a new home very soon. A friend of mine send me an envie stuffed with wonderful images - just because ... ;-) I so appreaciate you, Carol!!!!!

Hi there,

today I have a SU only card and I just figured that I usually don't create them anymore ... don't know why!

Well, I created this card for my dear friend Arielle's colorQ challenge. She challenged us to use going gray (I substituted sahara sand), barely banana, certainly celery, pumpkin pie and white. And that is what I came up with.

When I first saw the Medallion stamp from SU I fell in love. But unfortunately I haven't used it as much as I wish I had. So I pulled it out and paired it with the Circle Circus set from SU to. Same here. I saw it in the catty and couldn't wait to order it. Now it is sitting here and waiting patiently to be used.....

The third set is Heard from the Heart from SU too. Love the sentiment and the handwriting font here. Then I threw in some rhinestone stickers, a pumpkin pie corduroy button and some dimensionals. That's it. Clean and simple - exactly my style ;-)

lots of projects

Hi there!

Are you ready for the weekend yet? Do you need a little eyecandy? Sit back and relax while scrolling down this post.

I participated in the big release challenge over at Verve's. Julee will release 5 new sets and two plain ... tonight. And to celebrate this she will give away a bunch of new stamps to one lucky winner. The only thing I had to do to go into the "competition" was to create 5 project for 5 different challenges. I won't list all supplies here because I'm still in a hurry (that's life, right?). But if you wanna know what I used please checkout my gallery at SCS "3boysathome"

This challenge was to create a 3D project.

I made this card based on a sketch chalenge.

This challenge was anything but a A2 card.

For this one we had to use turquoie, gray and black.

And last but not least the use of chipboard (the two hearts).

Viva la Verve

Hi there,

did you know that Verve is giving away a whole new release of stamp sets? The only thing you have to do to is participate in the Viva la Verve challenges in the weeks before Julee shows her new sets and you will be in the drawing.

For this week's challenge I kept my clean and simple style and made a "different" Valentine's card. My DH isn't a huge fan of getting cards (even though he is always interested in what I am doing...). And because I just didn't want to say something valentine-ish to him I thought this sentiment is perfect. I had to add a little bling - I know it is not boy-ish but DH wouldn't even recognize it ;-)

MOJO Monday #121

Hi there,

just a quick post today because appointments are chasing each other today ;-)

This is my take for this week's MOJO Monday. I really wanted to try the flower that my dear friend Arielle has showcast in a tutorial. I like how the flower turned out but I'm not sure about the rest of the card. I guess there are just these days where nothing really comes together, you know what I mean?

I stamped the sentiment with Versamark and basic black ink and sprinkled it with this sparkling embossing powder. Unfortunately the picture is not enough to show it ....

is it still cold in your neck of the wood? I know A lot of you ladies still have feet of snow. Not so here in AL but it is still cooler than usual in January. I wanted to make a spring card for Kelly's color challenge at the KLstampin'Nscrapping blog . But with pink, black and white ... As you can see I grabbed Nora from Swiss Pixies by CC Design again and colored her up. And I have to admit that I absolutely love the winter-y cards this year :-))

I have just a short post for you today - we have kind of winter weather here and the kids love to play outside even though they are so not used to the temperatures ..... ;-)

I played with two challenges today: Unscripted Sketches and ColorQ

I used the bird from SU's the More The Merrier set , the sentiment is from TGF Dress up Ian, DP is SU's Cottage Wall. The swirl as a Sizzix die, dazzling Diamonds on the hearts (these are from my stash), button is also from my stash, liquid pearls around the birdie and some stickles on the bird's heart. Sorry for the fast notes, but I gotta go - boys are screaming ...

Vive la France

Bonjour mes amies!

Yes, I know, we are in the States so we talk english (that's what my little one told me yesterday ;)).

I participated in the challenge at Sweet 'n Sassy and combined it with the color dare. And while I was sorting stamps the other day I hold this set in my hands and a lot of wonderful memories came in my mind. Before we came to the States we have lived in the south of France for 3 years. And the building on this stamp looked so familiar ... hmmmmmm !!! But anyway... I decided to ink it up an try to color it a little bit. And this is the result:

I'm not quite statisfied because something is missing but I couldn't figure out what it is ....

I gotta run - dinner isn't read yet but Basketball training for the boys is over !!!! Have a good weekend and stay warm and safe!!!

I just figured out that KL Stamping 'n Scrapping has a sketch challenge due tomorrow and I had Tilda sitting on my desk - already colored. So I pulled out some scrap paper and made this card.

Tilda is colored with watercolor pencils and Aquapainter. The heart border and the sentiment is from the "Hope and Grace" set from The Greeting Farm. And I put some Stardust Stickles on Tilda's wings and on the middle heart. Everything else is self-explaining ;-).

January Sisterhood

Hi there,

have I told you that I'm a part of a wonderful group of ladies who swap cards every month? And while swapping we grew to a group of friends who support each other in all situation of life. I just love you ladies!!!

But anyways ... we are taking turns by hosting the swap each month and for January my friend Michelle chose the theme "All about you"- create a card that is inspired by e.g. your birthstone, birthflower, the color of your "birth month" ... - Miche, did I explain that correctly???

Well, I'm born in August: peridot, poppy or Gladiola, lion, .... I saw a wonderful poppy stamp from hero art but it was released Jan 8th - too late for me :-(. So I went with the color of the peridot and created this card.

I stamped the flowers from Taylor's "Discover your wings" set with white craft ink onto DP and embossed it with white embossing powder. Then I distressed the edges with a distressing tool and then matted it with very vanilla cardstock.

Another attribute of my birth month is Happiness - so I went ahead and sewed happy-ly on my cards. I tried a couple of different stitches but I like the regular one the best.

Added a sentiment from the same set in old olive ink - glued it on certainly celery card stock, threw in some rhinestone stickers and punched out butterfly .... et voilà!

I hope the ladies will like the card even though my sewing went a bit crazy *smile*

3 challenges in one card

just a short post this morning because I'm rushing out of the door in 5 minutes ......

I managed to combine 3 challenges in one card - I think this is pretty awesome for me. I always come up with an idea for one challenge, sometimes for two together. But all three? Huh, not too often.

This card is for Crazy4Challenges - use Polka Dots; Our Creative Corner - clean and simple and for the PaperCraftPlanet Sketch Challenge - sketch with cut out image.

I used my Cuttlebug Embossing Folder and my Winter Schminter stamp set from Whipper Snapper. Everything else should be self-explaining ....

Moose with GLASSES

Hi there,

it is good to see you today - welcome back here in my little corner of the web.

For today's card I choose the challenge from Peachy Keen and tried out a different size - not quite sure if I like it!

The inspiration came from my oldest son you asked me a couple days ago I I could make him and his little brother one of Mommy's lovely cards (tell me, who could resist a 4-year-old boy who asked in is most precious voice?). So, I went with Teacher Riley because my oldest has blue glasses - that why Riley has always blue glasses in our home ;-)

I popped them up a "little" bit. Then threw in some coloring and MS glitter, nice paper from my stash and ribbon (totally forgot about what will happen to this card after been given to the boys - glitter all over the house, phew!) - and I was done.
