Scraps Vol. III

Hi there,

I'm back with 2 cards I made from the huge stash of scraps I had in my desk ...

I like this one - it was my first christmas card for this year and so I decided to take it as a swap card for a christmas swap over at SCS (darn, I forgot for which it was .... sorry!)

The paper is a retired SU from last year's holiday catalog and everything else ist pretty much self-explaining.

This bookworm-bella image was received in an image swap and isn't colored too well - you should not do coloring, answering the telephone and jotting down some ideas ...(rolleyes) but nevertheless I wanted to use it and I try to lead the view away from the colored image to the bright colors of the DP. Kinda worked, huh?

I have to run - I'm nearly out of the door - kids wanna play outside and the pool is waiting too - self-taught swimming lessons for my oldest (rolleyes again)!

Peachy Keen Challenge #10

Hi there,

hope y'all have a wonderful Thursday - tomorrow is weekend!!!!!!

This cutest sunshine face is a stamp from Peachy Keen stamps and was given to me by my Secret Sister and wonderful friend Lorie Souther - btw, go to her blog and check out the card she made for this challenge - STUNNING!!!!! I had to try it for this week's challenge.

So I made a 5x5 card with light and friendly colors. And even though they are pretty girl-ish I had to think of my sunshine-boy who had a blast yesterday playing while the sprinklers were going :-)

This is a close-up look of the sun - I painted it with silver bells shimmerz and it has this amazing sparkle that perfectly matches the cute face.

So, that has to be all for today - gotta hurry because time flies by way too fast and here a re so many things to do before the kids will come home ....

Scraps Vol. II

Good morning!

I'm back with another "scrap"-card - as promised....

I had these balloon images stamped on DP sitting on my desk starring at me. So I decided it is time to use them. And because it's challenge time here ;-) I decided to create a scene which I rarely do (I'm always scared when I see what great cards people can make by creating a scene ...).

It wasn't a big deal. A little bit of masking and sponging (the sky should have been lighter but for one reason I grabbed brilliant blue and sponged it without trying it before ...) a lot of paperpiecing .. et voilà - here is my ballon scene!

I just love this stamp set "up and away" from Verve. Usually I see their stamps and think "oh, how nice" but I have no idea what to do with them. When I saw this one I a bunch of ideas popped in my mind and just HAD to buy it ... You will probably see some more cards made with those cuties :-)

Scraps and a selfmade challenge

Happy new week!!!!

Wow, it's Monday again. And just 10 more month and we will be on our way back to Germany ***sniff***. But anyway.....

While I was sorting a bunch of images I got from several swaps I found lot of stamped images I had started to work on and had quit. So I created my own challenge of used all that images plus using the scrap paper that still layed on my desk from recent projects. And those two cards are what I came up with Sunday morning. It took me not more then 45 minutes to do those two and another one that I will share with you later.

I absolutely love this warm and cozy look. And like I said in a recent post ,one of my sisters is having a tough time at the moment and I think this image is perfect for her.

What do you think about my coloring? I figured out that I can color her pretty good when I first stamp the image on watercolor paper and then use my SU markers (no, I don't owe copics ... yet). Usually the sage shadow isn't my favorite color at all ... but it was a challenge and so I tried my very best ;-).

WS and PB swap

Good morning ladies!!!

This will be a short post because I'm nearly out of the door (like I said - back to routine ;-)).

I participated in a swap hosted by my dear friend Barbara over at SCS for Penny Black and Whipper Snapper cards (Barb is lucky enough to live VERY close to the WS store!!!!)

So, this first card is the WS one - I used their cappuccino stamp on whisper white cs, paperpierced it with a scrap of my stash, sponged all the edged and put it on some nesties-circle (inverted and scalloped). Add a some dimensionals, spica pen and liquid applique, sticker pearls and orange gingham and throw in some razzleberry lemonade paper and dusty durango mats.

That's it!

The second one is the Penny Black - this little hedgehog is jumping into a bunch of hearts underneath a huge flower!!! Kinda that ;-).

I used my new embossing folder that I received as a gift from my wonderful SS Lorie (hey Lorie, love it ***waving***) and rub a little bit of chalk over it. The hearts were punched out with the punch from SU and I added crystal effects and a dew drop to the little guy's heart! And that is all it took!

A real challenge

Good morning!!!

I wanted to participate in this week's challenge over at Peachy Keens .... but the real challenge was to take this pictures. I did not know how hard it is to take a quite good pic of an acrylic sheet .... So, please excuse the quality I try to describe it a little bit.

Like I said, this card is my entry for the weekly challenge at Peachy Keen challenge blog. I saw a project in a paper crafting magazine wher they used an acrylic sheet and I had the idea for this card.

I painted the acryl with black acrylic paint to give it the dirty/ spooky look. Took my litle mummy (yeah, my first purchase at Peachy Keen + a little Teddy Bear and some sentiments :-) - thank you Lorie!), stamped it on whisper white an colored it with my SU ink pads and an Aquapainter.

The spiders on the elegant eggplant piece are from "Best Friends" set from SU. Some matting, some dimensionals and lots of wiggly eyes adhered with crystal effect and this card was done.

The challenge was to use a cirlce (well, is the mummy round or what?), a square (matting) and a star. Wow, that was really a challenge. So I just wrote the sentiment, cut them out and after I put a mat underneath I adhered them in kinda star-shape ..... Hope, that will match the requirements ;-)

This is a close up look of the mummy - whatever I tried I couldn't get the right angle to show her perfectly on the card picture.

I gotta go - my little one is running a fever and my oldest has to get ready for preschool! We are back into the routine !!!!

TGF swap

Hello,

I'm back with two cards to share. I signed up for a swap hosted by my dear friend Kadie - aka Kmensley- over at SCS for cards with stamps from The Greeting Farm - btw, Kadie has been one of their talented Spring Gardner this year. She challenged us to use a TGF stamp - and here is what I came up with.

I took this lovely Anya and colored her with my SU markers (haven't gotten any Copics yet and cannot decide if I really want them ...) And the idea for this layout came from one of the cards I saw in the last issue from PaperCrafts. But as much as I searched for the card again to give credit for the designer I couldn't find it anymore - sorry for this!

The patterned paper underneath is from K&Company from the Que Sera collection. And I HANDSTICHTED the two papers. It's hard to see on the photo but Kadie and Lorie (another outrageous talented friend of mine) use this technique a lot and I was just too lazy to pull out my sewing machine. Add some brilliant blue paper stamped with Polka Dots background, glue some flowers from K&Company, ad a bit of ribbon and ... voilà!! I hope Kadie will like it.

I always stamp some more images when I prepare to do a swap - you never know how much you will mess up while coloring, kwim? So, this time I had Miss Anya sitting blanc on my desk and I started to color her in some lilac-colors. Usually this is way out of my comfort zone - but I think it's okay so far. I added some glitter with my Sipca Penn on the flowers, two dew drop on the left side and some swirls - made with Spellbinder dies. Oh, and DP is from SU - Cottage Wall series. And I used the sketch from SCS for this week.

I like how it turned out and I think I will send it to my sister - she is having a real tough time at the moment. So hopefully it will make her smile.

2. post for today

Good morning again!

I know - this is my second post for today, woohoo!

I finished this card last night - it is for the Peachy Keen challenge. I absolutely adore their images. My friend Lorie was my Secret Sister during the last SS-swap we hosted in our little "sister-community" and she is also a DT member at Peachy Keen stamps. So she gave two stamps from them to play with. I had fun coloring even though I still have to learn about this watercolor technique and to practice it a lot.

When I saw their challenge for the week and knew I had to give it a try.His little boy looks so cute with his "chubby" toes and the blond hair - reminds me of my oldest son ;-)

Halloween swap

Good Morning!!!!!

I'm back with a card I made for a Halloween swap. The same hostess I made yesterday's card for is hosting a Halloween swap (hi Roxane - waving at ya!)

And this is my entry for the swap. I kept it simple and I wanted to use some of the great Halloween paper I kept from a former catalog (I forgot the name of the DP - sorry).

recently I bought some clear stamps at Michael's (they are really stocking up their clear stamp collection. woohoo) and I fell in love with this bat stamps!!!! Added a little booglie-wooglie ghost and there we go ..... The sentiments came with the DP and were perfect for this cards.

September Sisterhood

Good morning friends!

Sorry for being mia for a couple days - we just enjoyed the nice summer weather and spent most of the days in the pool! But nevertheless I finished my cards for the Sisterhood for September ... yeah!!!

My dear friend Roxane aka 2CuteCats over at SCS challenged us to make a fall-card (not a Thanksgiving or a Halloween-card). I didn't wanna use the typical fall-colors and images so I pulled our these beautiful set from the last Holiday mini-catalog and used the rubber boots for the first time. Since we brought back some gorgeous ones for the boys from Germany I'm totally hooked on these shoes. Sounds crazy, hm?

And I wanted to try my Sizzix dies on some other materials than paper. And I absolutely love how it turned out on the kork (cork/ corc ???) Everything else is quite straight and clean. I hope my sistahs will like it.

Augst Friendships

Good morning!

I think I mentioned before that I'm part of a group of the most wonderful ladies who swap together every month and share good things and not so good things and just chat and ....

Every month one lady of the group is hosting the swap and provide the monthly theme. For August my friend Gael wanted us to create a card with a moving part. I chose to make this flip-flop one and absolutely love the technique.

But after chosing the technique I had a hard time to put the paper and stamps and embellies together. Finally I ended up with this

version.

This is the back of the swing part. I decided to keep it in friendship mood and used my great friend stamp set from SU.

The new in-colors work great together and so I kept the combo easy and kinda fall-ish.

Peachy Keen Challenge

Good morning!!!!!

My friend Lorie - DT member at Peachy Keen - asked us to participate in the challenge over at Peachy Keen's. For this one we have to make a Halloween card with ric-rac on it and you have to use the color purple. Nothing easier than this ... but I don't own a single Halloween-stamp. So I went to a good friend of mine and flip through her stuff and found the cutest Halloween stamp-set ever ( it's called "Best Friends" and guess what... it is already retired :rolleyes:)!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this spooky guys .... Unfortunately the colors don't show up too well in this pic ...

I sew the black threat through the dp by hand - and as soon as I figure out how to install a close-up-look to the picture posted here you may be able to see that excactly (like I said I'm still working on my blogging skills ;-))

On the white background I stamped the bats that came with that set and those funny spider and "hide" them behind the stitches. The beautiful paper is from the last years collection from The Paper Studio Company and is called Jeeper Creepers! I did a lot of sponging on nearly all this papers. And everything else is kinda self-explaining.

That's why I'm gonna skip the deets today, grap my kids now and I'm off to the pool! Too hot and humid here... even in the house.

Wow, the Verve-blog-hop was a Wowzer!!! Did you see that I got 110 comments? Awesome - thank you very much to everybody who visited me over here.

Today I'd like to share a project that I made for hubby's new boss and his wife. They came to the US by July 15th when we were still in Germany for vacation. So we still "owe" them a little something as a welcome present.

I first made this card with my new rich razzleberry cardstock and the new rub-ons I wanted to try forever .... It is simple but looks great in addition to this purse.

My SiL made one of those for my inlaws' Anniversary and I liked how it turned out. So I got the template which she found on this blog and just went ahead.
